United Nations Headquarters
Formed from the bones of the League of Nations and the ashes of WWII, the United Nations remains tasked with preventing future conflicts and fostering international cooperation through various initiatives and conferences.
Its members guide world progression towards a unilaterally beneficial future. Only in the halls of a building given residence in the “City That Never Sleeps," smaller island nations under threat of climate change can push progressive policies as president of the Security Council. Bilateral meetings with economic leaders and local politicians create a better understanding of how agendas affect the populous. Diasporas can take the world stage at the General Assembly, bringing to light atrocities that would normally fall out of the spotlight.
But progress towards peace ebbs and flows. The web of allyship and animosity stretching between nations makes the reality of another global conflict seem closer than ever. But from early morning to late night, the members of the United Nations Headquarters remain vigilant to ensure peace for the generations that follow.
