The World v. Gaza Conflict

“What is the virtue of a proportional response?” On October 7, 2023, Israel would answer this question. The large-scale Hamas attack involving the killing of a thousand people and kidnapping of more than two hundred civilians would prompt a response with the full might of the IDF.

Offenses, operations, and campaigns would target areas deemed to be Hamas strongholds or command and control centers. Over 100,000 tons of explosives would be dropped on Gaza and its residential buildings, schools, shelters, hospitals, and other civilian-dense infrastructure. This would result in the deaths of 350 persons per day on average, close to eighty thousand since 2023. Those buried under the rubble of what was once a home to many would be from all walks of life: healthcare workers, journalists, aid workers, academics, artists, athletes, students, and children.

These attacks have sparked a global response. A majority of those who call the planet Earth home deem the assault on Gaza as genocide, with activists standing up against those who would deem it justifiable.
